Isaac gets sent into a hospital room for a “goodbye.” You’d expect a final conversation, maybe a tearful goodbye with proper closure. Nope. What he finds is a bandaged form, kept alive by machines and not exactly responsive to human emotion. Worse, his father appears to have no face. It’s the kind of detail that makes grief feel less like a process and more like a jump scare with paperwork.
And then there’s nobody to lean on. His mother is gone, he has no siblings, and his stepmother Laura (Julia Brown) is buried under her own mourning, like grief is a full-time job and Isaac is just… paperwork she can’t get to.
To make it even stranger, something resembling Isaac’s recently dead dad shows up. Friendly? Not really. Safe? Definitely no. The horror isn’t subtle. It just waits for Isaac to realize he’s out of options.

Krankenhaus. Flüstern. Isaac soll sich von seinem Vater verabschieden. Klingt nach einem dieser Momente, die man eigentlich kurz durchatmet und dann weiterlebt. Nur dass das „Weiterleben“ hier ausfällt: Im Bett liegt eine bandagierte Gestalt, am Leben gehalten von Maschinen, ohne dass sie auf Isaac reagiert. Und dann dieses Detail: Der Mann hat offenbar kein Gesicht mehr. Perfekt, um Trauer nicht nur zu fühlen, sondern direkt mit einem kalten Schauer serviert zu bekommen.
Und als wäre das nicht schon schlimm genug, ist da niemand zum Reden. Isaacs Mutter ist tot, Geschwister gibt’s nicht, und seine Stiefmutter Laura (Julia Brown) ist so in ihrer eigenen Trauer versunken, dass sie kaum Luft für ihn hat. Doch plötzlich taucht etwas auf, das nach Dad aussieht. Sicher. Ruhig. Und ziemlich ungesund.
